Steven V. Blount has been actively practicing law in Southwest Florida for almost 30 years, earning a reputation as a persistent and methodical litigator.

Steve is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as both a Circuit Civil and Family Mediator. He is certified to mediate in both state and the federal district court (Middle District of Florida).  He is also a Qualified Arbitrator.

Litigation Experience:

Steve intentionally engaged in a broad practice with a focus on complex commercial litigation, business matters, and dissolution matters.

His civil/commercial practice included business/shareholder disputes, contract cases, business torts, employment disputes, employee restrictive covenants, construction defect cases, title insurance matters, title disputes, real estate disputes, business matters, as well as personal injury cases.

Steve’s family law practice included complex, high-value dissolutions, modifications, custody and child support matters, as well as paternity and other family law matters.

Steve began practicing in Naples, Florida in 1995 and became a shareholder in Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. in 2001. He opened his own law firm, Blount Law, PL, in 2012 and Blount Mediation Services, LLC in 2017.

He has represented contractors, residential and commercial property owners, title insurers, business owners and entrepreneurs of almost every type as both Plaintiff and Defendant.

Mediation experience:

Steve started mediating in 2017, becoming a Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and gaining certification in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and became a Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator in 2020.

Steve mediates throughout Southwest Florida including, Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota, Hendry and Glades counties, utilizing his 25 years of experience as a litigator to help attorneys and their clients find resolution to their disputes.  With the advent of Zoom Mediations, his practice has expanded to include most of Florida.

The mediation practice has proven to be as diverse as his law practice and equally rewarding. Steve began practicing law out of a desire to help people solve problems and take advantage of opportunities, and he has carried that desire over to his practice as a Mediator.

Business experience:

Steve earned his undergraduate degree in business prior to attending law school, and he has worked with hundreds of business owner clients, assisting them in minimizing problems and maximizing opportunities.

As a business owner himself (having owned two law firms, a mediation practice, an import business and other real estate related businesses), Steve recognizes the importance of taking charge of a dispute and the pains that often accompany litigation.
